View Full Version : Laptop Lead will not charge

I was hoping someone could help me - I have 2 laptops - 1 cannot charge at all using the lead and the other one can only charge if you fiddle about with lead. Does anyone have a solution to this problem or knows if anyone can fix it for me at a reasonable cost? :)

When you say 'lead' which bit do you mean (as there are normally two)?

Is it the bit that goes directly into the laptop itself or do you mean the bit that goes into the power brick (which has another lead that plugs into the laptop itself)?

There have been a couple of these in here recently - must be the water! It's likely to be the connection on the laptop by the sounds of things. If it wiggles when you plug it in it sounds like it's loose or come off completely.

Thanks for advice but I have not soldered in my life before nor do i know anyone who has so where should I go from here? :(

It's more likely to be a faulty lead. See if you can borrow a known good power lead to charge the battery before going in too deep!

Tried another known working power lead but still does not work does anybody know if anybody could fix this for me??????????

this happened to me so i took it to alacam they charged me £15
it happened again so my partner bought a soldering iron which was £10 and repaired and least i know it can be fixed if happens again without costing me another £15

Daft as it sounds but try the laptop without the battery fitted in place. I thought my lead had a faulty intermittent connection but it was a bad battery draining all the power for recharging.

if you are near wick, i am more than willing to help.
been in electronics and pc's for more than 20yrs.
just recently semi-moved here.
if i can get it going for nowt - it'll cost you nowt but petrol.
if it we need bits i'll poke you in the right direction, then we'll get 'em done.
