..what is life like in the village? Is it quiet?
All the info I can find suggests so.
Is there a Doctor's surgery? Bus to Thurso?
I'm being a bit lazy here but maybe someone local
will not mind filling me in.

Not in a literal sense mind....lol.

Halkirk I suppose is fairly quiet. It has a doctors surgery, buses go through Halkirk about every hour, there's a grocers shop, a garage and two hotels what more could anybody want????:)

It's not on the coast. I couldn't imagine living in Caithness and not being near the sea, or next to a loch. But that's just me I guess...

This probably sounds daft, but Halkirk has never quite felt like Caithess to me. What do I mean by that? I don't know, I can't quantify it.

It's a fine place really, it's on the river and there is indeed good fishing there.

Don't take too much notice of my ramblings...

It could still be called sin city I'm not sure, all I know is that it was called that because of the wife swapping and that used to happen back in the eighties, but I've been out of Halkirk since about seventeen years, but from what I understand not a lot has changed in the last few years.

How many wives have you got?? ;)

I like Halkirk, seems a reasonably quiet little village, couple of nice pubs, couple of nice shops, a chippy, a garage, a electrical repair shop, a gun shop, a fishing shop, a footie pitch and park.......lovely walk and picnic area by Thurso river......garden centre nearby, handy to Thurso, off the main road......

Halkirk is like a fast swimming swan - Serene on top - but a lot going on underneath if you wish to be involved.
