I just wondered if anyone else had problems with their pc after updating to IE8?

Clicked the little box to upgrade it a couple of days ago and really wished i hadn't.

Comp wouldn't recognise my printer, caused problems with messenger still finding little niggles even after removal and a system restore.

I would never upgrade to any Microsoft software until its been out there for ages and patched up so its usable.

Is there an option to remove it in add / remove programs in the control panel?

I'd do that and use Mozilla Firefox 3 for web browsing - http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/

I've been using IE8 Beta in Windows 7 for a few months now and it's been fine. However I obviously didn't upgrade to it it was already installed int he operating system.

Can you try and reinstall IE7 (I assumed you upgraded from that)?

I agree with Eddie - much of the instability found in IE comes from add-ons - toolbars, search bars, reward bars, etc. & I certianly use IE7 with only a handful of useful add-ons.

When asked to speed up systems I frequently uninstall these add-ons (after asking the customer if they use them of course - most don't even know how they got there in the first place!) and the results are often astounding!

The same goes for programs running in the system tray (down by the clock). I try and remove as many of them as possible too - either by uninstalling, or simply un-ticking the 'Startup when Windows starts' option. The difference in both system start up time, free resources, and system stability, make for a much smoother PC experience.

For anybody else thinking of upgrading, have a look at this (http://windowssecrets.com/links/yqh3bjs88mj5d/c343efh/) as it makes a lot of sense.

Really wish i'd known that before i upgraded. Another problem i found after i had installed it was that it caused problems with my anti-virus.

Have managed to fix everything now i think!
