I was at work this morning when a bloke came in to pick up his cargo and though we have spoken for years it seems he kept forgetting to ask me something. he asks me if i am the one with the weather station site to which i reply yes and he proceeded to tell me an extremely funny story from a couple of years ago!
it sseems his computer was conked out and was at a friends house, it was a windy day and he wanted to check on the weather station, he asks the friend if this would be possible as she was seated at the computer, she asks for the URL so he gives it. After completing the URL verbally, this friend was apparently very close to having a 'fit' thinking my website was all about porn because of the name! [lol][lol]

so, a quick question, the first time you saw the name 'Tugmistress' was it rude thoughts or other?

I thought you were just as your name suggests-connected to boats in some way, maybe a ships Captain(ess).

Well my very first thought was that you worked in the Oil Industry.

But porn never crossed my mind, but I suppose some people might make this connection due to the mistress part. If they do, well it shows what type of sites they are looking up.

So no there is nothing at all wrong with your name and you should leave it as it is.

When I first saw your avatar of a tractor unit and trailer and you mentioned that you were in close proximity to Scrabster I think I correctly deduced that you did the shunting work down at the harbour.

However, now you have come to mention it .LOL:lol:

Actually, and this may be really insulting, I thought of a large lady who intimidates the harbour master and is in charge by respect if not by pay!

I am heading into trouble, I can tell

Kevin - spot on! that's exactly what i do :)

solus and cedric - hmmm, active imaginations :D
twiglet - lol thanks - i think?

i am still chuckling at the story, i just found it so funny, but i guess it was the 'mistress' bit that put the lady off my name and it seems to this day she still thinks bad of it lol

I too thought that your name had something to do with boats. However having known you for quite some time now I could see how some people could get the wrong idea! (nudge,nudge-wink,wink) Mik XX

Well, having read the story, which made me smile, and then all the replies so far, All I can say is, that from the replies, some of which are from people who know "Tugmistress", is that she must be a very special person, well liked, well respected, and damm good at all she does. Oh and while looking, I came across some of her photos! Talented, or what! Must be more to this woman than meets the eye!

Seeing the name Tugmistress for the first time had me thinking of a very large female person with arms like Popeye, legs that would kick start a Jumbo jet, and a pronouced moustache.
She would also smoke a pipe or 40 Capstan Full Strength every day, probably chew tobacco from time to time, and spit in a plastic cup.

How anyone could be so twisted as to equate the name Tugmistress to a Swedish tennis player called Pjorn is beyond my comprension.

Of course the Tugmistress I know is nothing like my first impression, even in a boiler suit & hardhat she is quite cuddly xx

I had this image of a fairly bulky bargee wearing one of those striped jerseys and smoking a gauloisse on the deck of a long narrow boat in a canal somewhere well to the south of Scrabster.
