Through surfing on the internet I have come across something called GeoCaching. I am pretty intrigued by this. Down the bottom of the wiki page there are links to some pages for searching, seems some orgers participate.

Anyone else heard of this or take part already?

Yeah, I came across this new sport when I discovered a plastic box of "treasure" at Puffin Cove (on the road out West from Thurso) - looks like pretty good fun if you have the technology to find boxes in other places. Would certainly take you to corners you'd never go otherwise!!

I was introduced to geocaching about 6 years ago by some friends in the USA, and was delighted to discover then that there were enthusiastic 'cachers all over the world...including in Caithness!

We used to go out as a family (the children thought of it as 'treasure hunting' :) ), and then I went sometimes on my own. We haven't been active for a while now, but it was actually just last week my elder son was indicating he would like to get back to it...so he and I likely will!

If you have a look at http://www.geocaching.com/ it will explain all about it, answer any questions you might have, and point you to where there are caches in your area. It is great fun...besides locally, I've logged caches while on holiday, too, and that was quite exciting!

New? I think it had already been around a while; when I wrote about it way back in February 2003...

Uh-huh  . I believe I did say that I was participating in the activity 6 years ago here in Caithness, and that people all over the world were also already enjoying the sport at that time?
