Has anyone had any experience with the Hospital Transport to Caithness General? I have a dilemma and not sure what to do.

In the past when I went into the hospital for surgery, I went in the day before and had the pre-op checks done then. This time, I have to go to outpatients a few days before for pre-op checks, then to arrive on the day of surgery at 8.15am.

My problem is, although I qualify for Hospital Transport, I am told that they cannot guarantee to get me there on time. In fact, as it is a voluntary service, they cannot tell me what time I will arrive at the hospital as it is up to the volunteer driver.

Has anyone else come up against this problem?

Orger Fran would be the best person to get in touch with. I'm sure she would be able to help.

My partner had problems in obtaining patient transport, if you have an appointment is after 3.00 you can forget it, as they don't run after that time.

When you go in for your 'pre-op' check you talk to the nurse and she will advise you re your admission.
