Hi i am looking for a wedding cake for my big day in september. Would like a sponge rather than a fruit cake. Something a bit different. Any recommendations?

Thanks

my sponge wedding cake came from Marks and Spencers and i can throughly recommend it.

A lot of supermarkets do this as well. You buy the amount/size of tiers you want, and can then decorate it the way you want it.

heres a pic of my cake for you to see...

Macdonalds Bakery in Wick do brilliant cakes i had a fruit cake on the bottom of mine & then on the next layer had a vanilla sponge cake on the top for the kids & the people that dont like fruit cake, but im sure they would do your whole cake for you in whatever sponge you would like, it was really nice everyone complimented it & i didnt find it too expensive.

MacDonalds or the Cliff Bakery, both in Wick, would be my recommendations for sponge decorated cakes.

For my wedding last year I had a heart shaped ice cream cake, it was lovely & everyone enjoyed it. Harry Gow, Brora do lovely ones.
I had a square one for my wedding dance that had black ribbon and icing on it, it came from Ashers in Inverness.

Angela Costello from J A Mackay Grocers in Thurso does cakes. Her decoration is outstanding.

Got this in an email. Some stunning cakes, well worth a look.
Perhaps not quite what one would have in mind for their wedding but certainly different.
