notice today that Tesco Derv is more expensive than Richards Garage in Wick by nearly 1 pence So Much for the Slogan Cheap Fuel

This could be as they are running "Spend £50.00 on your Shopping and save 5 pence per Litre off your fuel"

So if you take this into account then you would pay 4 Pece less per Litre.

Tesco Inverness is 2p cheaper than Tesco Wick.
So no real change from before Tesco, still being ripped off!!!

Would accept either of those prices in Thurso where we are consistently 4p or 5p higher - even at Dunnet's who have a garage in each town.

Fuel prices in Wick & Thurso will stay high until Tesco have some serious competition.

"serious competition" would have been ASDA, (some) Councillors thought that if Pennyland was refused them, then ASDA would be kind of 'forced' to go to the Mart, Hmm, let's think who's got more money? why Tesco of course so they outbid ASDA - bit obvious, pity those Councillors weren't a wee bit brighter, and we would certainly see competition then... Incidentally wonder what Richards would be if tesco was NOT here?

Have they? I would have thought they would not be allowed to have any say in planning applications if this were the case.

I think the Cooncil DO have shares in Tesco but I doubt if any of our Cooncillors have the intelligence to know what that means.

I hardly think that 2p / ltr difference is a rip off.... Try moving a 1Kg parcel by courier or carrier for 2p per 100 mls; Slim chance of success there pal!

Most road tankers are carrying a minimum of 25000 Litres - at 2p/Litre that looks like £500 to travel from Inverness to Wick and return - thats over £2 per mile. Ask the local hauliers if they make that much ??
Thats only an example as the bulk of road fuel sold in Caithness arrives by ship to Scrabster or Wick. Its really decent of these local fuel retailers losing money to sell fuel - who are you trying to kid ?. Granted they are not making a fortune but selling only to provide a service to loyal customers - dont be totally daft - you sound like Gordon Brown.
The real culprit here is our sole 'supermarket' supplier (beloved of our local councillors) who set fuel prices at such a level that they make their usual excessive profit and the local suppliers still make a living.

92.4 pence per litre is the cost of derv if you use a RED fuel card works out at 9.5 ppl Cheaper than Tesco .
Tesco and most of the Wick Garages are overprice by 5ppl.Thurso and some others in Caithness are making up to 10ppl profit
Now if Councillor Smith did not vote against ASDA the fuel price would be 97.9 for Derv

The Elm Tree Filling Station closed. What would the prices be there today? What would it cost to fill up a COACH?

You can't go spoiling people's views of Orkney from Pennyland, that's much more important than the people of Thurso having a decent sized supermarket.

Most coaches have 400 litre tanks,so around the £400 mark.

It's false economy less additives works out more expensive using Tescos fuel

"92.4 pence per litre is the cost of derv if you use a RED fuel card"

With you on that one. Notice how you never got a reply back:lol:

Least the fuel is back down in price and not away up at £1.17 or dearer for the time being!!

Anyone else notice that immediately before Tescos 5p a litre offer starts they put the price up by 2p.

No you do not have to own a fleet of hgv s.
Brogans also do a derv card under the Highland Brand

That is Not an easy question to answer without knowing the size of the coach tanks.
As all coach operators get a REBATE on the fuel duty part of the overall price.
The rebate is 80% of the duty but goes to 100% if you are using LPG .
So without the tank size the price of filling a coach is not easy to work out.
The correct local Price for Derv should be about 97.9 ppl but should be falling as the fuel sold today was purchased wholesale about three months ago when the Doller was high.
