Geese

Is the number of geese in the county more than normal. Also saw 30+ curlews just south of Brora today, is this more than usual.

Unless more geese have arrived in the last three weeks, we were very surprised by the lack of numbers we saw during our recent visit. In previous winters we have counted several flocks of more than one hundred but this January only found one such flock on Loch Calder and a few much smaller flocks on the fields along by Brims.
With regard to curlews they do gather in large groups there was a large group out by Canisby that were spotted both by myself and a couple of others, unfortunately no where to do a stop but would estimate 50 plus in one field.
