Has anyone else seen the moon tonight, it's really weird with a wide halo of light or cloud around it, is this a phenomenon?

It's certainly phenomenal............try looking directly at the moon itself.....does it look like its vibrating?

Maybe we're getting sucked in to a black hole!

Just spent the whole time it took to smoke a fag gazing at it, it's pretty amazing even if it ain't a phenomenon..........infact i feel like another right now!!!!!

The halo effect was really cool.

Some info on how it is formed and a really nice picture here:

The moon looked great this morning about 5 oclock when heading to work .

When the moon has a pronounced halo it is a sign of moisture in the air and usually precedes a wet front moving in.
"The closer the halo, the nearer the storm, " is quite a common country adage.

In yorkshire we used to call them snow rings - guess due to the cold and everthing that is mentioned on the link it kind of makes sense - but still an old wives name for it.

Seen it while I was out around 9-10'ish.

I thought it was to do with the frost/cold being in the clouds and the suns rays that are being reflected off the moon were melting an even circle around it.
Guess I was wrong...... [disgust]
