View Full Version : The "HOME" Secretary

Rules is rules and we can't really exist without them. BUT how much should you be able to bend them to suit your own needs.

Here we have a high ranking Minister who has a house, a husband and children in the West Midlands but classes that as her 2nd home. She lodges in London with her sister and classes that as her main residence. This allows her to claim second home expenses which in effect pays for the upkeep of the "home" (where husband and children are) in the West Midlands.

What grates even more is that there is a "grace and favour" home available in Whitehall for the Home Secretary BUT "if she took would mean she could not claim for a second home". Nose in trough, jumping on the gravy train, and fill your wellies springs to mind!!!

Ed Balls and his missus Yvette Cooper "live" together in London where their children go to school and claim second home expenses for that London home, while stating that their constituency home in Yorkshire is the main residence.

As they say in Through the Keyhole "Who lives in a home like this?"

This is standard Socialism at work - one rule for the politburo and another for the peasants. If Joe Public tried this one he or she would be out of a job/in the slammer pronto.

And she trotted out that same old, overused excuse. " I havent done anything wrong". Legally, she hasn't. But morally? Now, thats when we really find out the true state of our elected representatives principles.

Actually, you dont get a say in who the Prime Minister is, not at any time. At the General Election, the only choice you are asked to make, is which candidate you would like to be elected as MP for the constituency in which you are voting.

I think they should buy a block of flats, do them up and put the ministers up in them when they need to be in London, save all this second home allowance and folks getting new kitchens etc.

That way they could all travel into work in the same mini bus saving even more money

However, if Joe Public (99% of people) was suddenly elevaeted a high office he would do exactly the same thing if he thought he would get away with it. So at least it shows they are human.

Can you imagine the endless queue of drug dealers, ladies of the night, rent boys and fast food deliveries that would be arriving at that block of flats day in day out. It would fairly lower the tone of whatever area they chose to place it.

When the "second home allowance" and "John Lewis List" first came to the fore that idea was suggested. They squirmed out of that saying it was a security risk from terrorists if all the MPs were staying in the same place. Someone also suggested they stay in Travel Lodge type places for their stays in London, can't remember what excuse they came up with to dodge that one.

Yee of little faith.
I disagree...much more than 1% of the population are principled and honest. Myself included.

Speak for youtself...and speak volumes whilst yer at it.

Put them up in a floatel on the Thames. If theyre good enough for the migrant workers they wax lyrical about its good enough for them. Anybody know where I can get a limpet mine from?
