thought would start a new snow thread for today,
i'm sitting here watching my ground turn from normal brown and grey stones to that cold white precipitation. and am wondering if when i awaken in a couple of hours that the world will stop as there will be a layer of (yikes!) snow, or if the news channels have just hyped it to such extremes that honestly we will be able to cope and that the world will still revolve.
hmmmmmm!

usually love the snow - (think i must be having a sleep deprived moment)

but as mentioned at the start everything in my part of wick, ie what i can see from sitting here at the computer, is turning white quite quickly.

has everyone else got some of this stuff as well

The snow is lying on the roads and the roads were very quiet this evening, but no gritters!!!

And still it comes down, I would think there is a good couple of inches but I ain't going out to measure it.
The gritter/plough was been out on the A99 but there is quite a stiff breeze so I would imagine it will drift. The snow that is, not the gritter.

Perfect snow for building! Quiet, winter wonderland.:)

Well its lovely and snow covered in Halkirk. I hear that Thurso and Wick have very little but that the Cassie Mire is a bit awkward.

My son was desperate to make a snow man in the dark last night so hubby told him the snow "was not ready yet". He came bounding into the bedroom this morning telling us "The snow is ready now, can we throw snowballs?". Bless.:D

There is hardly anything at my house! But this morning on my early travels....i tackled castlegreen road!!! Ohhh i slipped at least 5 times! But managed to stay on my feet! Lost a bit of dignity when a car tooted its horn at me for slipping! :confused

No gritters though!! Nearly fell on my bum at the doctors surgery door too but there was no ice...that was just me!

I want lovely white fluffy snow! I dont intend on leaving the house for a few days now so bring it on! And it will stop the OH moaning that there is no snow! What a bairn!!

I just read this, there is some total nutters out there on the roads, they are moving signs that said the road was closed!!! I hope the police get the people who did this, gawd how many lives they must be putting in dangerous.

We have a fair amount of the white stuff in Roster. We have just spent over half a hour clearing a path to be able to put the 4x4 away in the barn ! We were not expecting this much snow overnight !- About 5'' I think although some drifting so very deep in parts !

Just a thought from Canada......
A couple of plows used for snow clearence/ on some highways there are 6-8 lanes each way, so they go in convoy, as many as 6/7. Quite amazing to see them travel....... And my car after lots of work!
I do remember Caithness when we used to get amazing snow falls.. I won't say what year that was/ just a wee boyagee then!
We have had approx 7 feet in about 7 snow falls this year so far. End of Nov to likely end of March. Today it's rather cold, but really beautiful. Minus 19.
Never tried attaching fotos before. Lets see if it works....

Just thought you'd all like to know that there must have been plenty of snow today in Fernie, Canada.
According to the BBC news, the ski conditions are good!
Is it snowing everywhere?

When I first went on to the web I discoverd for the first time this town called Fernie named after William Fernie (not sure if we are related at some point).

There are a growing number of Fernie web sites - maybe it's in the blood
and I have not skied for many years.

and many others......

I have never been but maybe one day.......
And not many people call me William these days
