I must be thick.

If I have put numerous replies in one thread, I noticed that my "number of posts" was the same in each of those posts. I thought maybe it was an error or that maybe the post total was an automatic update once in every 24 hours. But never really thought much more about it!

Today was my big day, I posted my 1000th. As I perused the threads I noticed ALL my previous posts were showing "number of posts 1000", then CLAAANNNG the penny dropped. The "number of posts" total is updated on all previous posts and threads as well as the latest one.

Jeepers I am so dozy.

The "number of posts" total is updated on all previous posts and threads as well as the latest one.

Technically it's updated in the database each time you make a post. Every time you view a thread it pulls out the latest total along with a host of other stuff, the pages are said to be dynamic rather than static.
