I have just got hold of one of those little digital thermometer for measuring the temperature outside the car (for old cars that dont have one anyway). But was wondering where would be the best place to place the little sensor, so that it would be away from the engine heat, out of the wind, etc.

Any answers appreciated.

The temp sensor I on an old vauxhall astra was placed in behind the front bumper on the passenger side.

On my old Golf the temp sensor was at the front of the engine compartment somewhere behind the right hand headlamp. Will the wire lead reach that far?

yep pop it at the front offside
gives the best chance of coldair from the majority of the driving surface travelling over it.
