My wife works with a girl who is a bit dim, she had been through to thurso and said (in a shocked tone)..'Woolies in thurso is closed as well', when it was explained to her that ALL the Woolies branches were closed she still didn't get it, her response was 'Never?...two Woolies branches in the north of Scotland closed...ats terrible', after further explanation i think she eventually understood [smirk]

Sad to see the shop like that. I worked there as a "Saturday Girl" and when I started in '69 we had the long counters that you served between and each section had it's own till. By the time I left in '71 the "supermarket/self-service" style had come in ~ as had decimalisation, with everything having to have the old and new price displayed. Have fond memories of the place. Good Luck to all the staff in their search for new employment.

i was near crying by the end!! so many of the staff have been there for years and must have felt as if they were part of the fittiings & fixtures, hope they manage to get themselves something too.

PS now dawned on me who Balto is!!

Very poignant film - very best wishes to the staff who were obviously motivated to the end.
