Does anyone know what the crack is with the steel for the sheds etc?

Is it for sale? Does Tesco own it? Do Gunn's that are doing the works etc?

Anyone any idea??

I heard, (from an insider [lol]), that it's definitely going to be a Tesco's. One of the attached conditions for allowing them to have a fuel station on site is they have to install a wind turbine to offset the carbon footprint from selling fossil fuel.

As far as i'm aware the big shed at the mart still belongs to tesco. I would imagine they would sell it for the right price but the down side for the buyer would be disposing of the sheeting as it's asbestos and would cost a few thousand to get rid of.

If the sheets are asbestos a specialist contractor would be needed to remove them and "dispose" of them.

Not as if tesco cana afford it eh! Wish i had the income the main managers of the company get!!

I can but dream!

Infact i hope tesco does come to the mart asap! As i said on another thread i have to pay £3 (At least) to get a taxi there...and then a taxi back. Cant carry my son in his seat cos he is a podgy pie! Lol! But then again i will likely spend most the hours of the day in there then!

aye apparantly they are about the only ones that didnt object to the store going up, a huge wall is going up round, so at least they dont have to look at it 24/7

if your insider works there i can assure u its all just speculation....the general consensus is a lot of doubt as to whether it will happen at all... time will tell...its not even gone up in front of the council yet....

I have heard today (from an impeccable source within the Highland Regional Council) that Tesco have sold this site to ASDA and all the local councillors are now getting their free holidays on ASDA's Caribbean Island and have supposedly told Tesco to stuff their double points and their bottle of Asti Spumante at Xmas.

Is it only me who does this, i see all that stabs still there and think to myself, why cant they let people take it, there is always folk looking for wood for thier wood burners, hate to see things dumped when it can be put to good use.

I dunno what you mean about set numbers people can post, sorry!

My one-liner was referring to yours & Miknhev's above it which alluded to Tesco+Council=bribe and that poor old Asda has somehow been hard done by. Asda had the chance to buy the site but didn't - Tesco saw a commercial opportunity laid wide open and took it. End of.

its always the same, tesco dont have a problem getting in anywhere the word bribe springs to mind.

To suggest that councillors and Tesco are involved in bribery is libellous. I think you should edit your post or this thread is likely to be removed.

Would just like to point out that the asbestos concerned is almost certainly cement sheets and you do NOT need a licensed contractor to remove these (anyone can provided they take appropriate precautions).

But probably worth checking since its in a town and a big roof which might be weathered enough to make it exempt from the exemption.

Dont worry all i am sure in due time we will know what is happening! And it seems we know more than the insiders do! If we are just patient we will see what is going to be happening over the next year with that area. Asda.....Tesco......Sainsburys! Who actually knows?

Obviously none of us do! We are just going by what we hear! So keep yer wee eyes on the papers and see what is being said! :Razz

We had a Tesco built but with certain restrictions regarding the architecture and blending in with the surroundings etc. Anyway within a couple of years theyd built a massive extension on one side of it. A horrible, modern, grey ,drab ,aircraft hanger type thing wiich would be more at home on an industrial estate. Dont know what the councils like in Thurso but here theyre all as bent as a scenic railway.

Think your source has given you wrong info. I work in tesco and they would never sell Asda ground. They mite sell them the building in thurso they have now though:eek:
