Fabulous pics Rheghead! Which zoo? Every time I have seen the polar bear in Edinburgh he just looked dejected and not a happy sight.

Great shots Rheghead.

What lens were you using? Biggest problem I've always found at zoos is all the wire enclosures getting in the way.

Yes Rheggers how did you get such amazing close ups of the big cats? I am so happy to see that polar bear happy too - TY! Did you get any penguin pics?

Rheghead

Deemac, I was using a 28-135mm Canon lens but I was able to shoot the cats through glass with an aperture of 5.6 and slow shutter speeds to compensate for the lack of light and avoid flash etc. The cats had to be very still though.:)

Wifie,I got some shots of penguins but they were behind the cage wire so they didn't look too good. I got quite close to the cats but behind the glass.

Dessie, I was at Longleat last year. (Great day out) Decided to avoid the monkey section as they were ripping parts of vehicles and I had a hire car with a £500 damage excess!! Did you escape intact? I also did the deer section and got a very similar shot as yours with them looking into the window.

I'm not too good at directions, but basically the turn-off to the park is before you reach Inverness (heading south on the A9). After the Tore roundabout keep your eyes peeled for the turn-off to the left. It's maybe 2 miles before the kessock bridge. Then just follow the road til you reach the park. There's a map here which might explain it better: http://www.inverness-highlands.com/attractions/wildlife/63-black-isle-wildlife-park.html
We used to live a lot closer so I've been at least 5 times. I love it when you get to handle the snakes and baby chicks, rabbits, etc. And it's great fun for kids, getting to feed all the animals. :)

I loved the leaf-cutter ants. They were walking along a rope in front of us that went into another room where the nest was in a perspex container so you could see right inside - it was brilliant!

And a few more - shame about the reflections in the glass.
