Taken with Canon 75-300mm lens.
1st one is correct exposure and even though i say it myself i got the focus spot on with a little starburst coming from Venus. 2nd one is overexposed to show the earthshine on the part of the moon you cant see.

Nice shot Deemac - saw you tonight in the town and was wondering what you were lining up in the viewfinder.

I have to say that I know my constellations quite well, but don't recognise which one the stars in your shot belong to ;)

Great photos as usual. I love the night sky when there is no cloud cover.

I just got back from walking the dog and sliped onto my arse again (its very icey out) but looking on the bright side I did get a good view of the sky while I was getting my breath back.lol

Super photos, MPH! I was lucky enough to see the Moon and Venus looking just as they are in your first photo. They were very clearly visible here on New Year's Eve, and it was a beautiful sight.
