Martina, I just had to bring this link to the photography section as I came across your "Roses" this morning. http://scotlandvisions.blogspot.com/ (http://scotlandvisions.blogspot.com/)

I think that "Old and beautiful" can apply to people as well; I've known some old men and women who look positively serene in their old age. I just wish I had some pictures of my grandad as he sat in his favourite chair beside the rayburn in their whitewashed but-and-ben.

In the poor light that streamed in through the small window, he could just be seen through a cloud of smoke from his pipe with a very contented look on his face. Often there would be a cat or a small grandchild sitting on the footstool in front of the rayburn looking up at the shapes formed by the smoke and hearing the sound of the bubbles popping from the porridge in a big black pot on the stove. Memories......:)
