I have the Olympus 10 x 50 DPSI and I can't fault them they are not too heavy and optics provide crystal clear images.
But as most things it's personal choice hope you pick the pair that will do the job you want

10x50 and 8x40 will give you very good images.
The zoom part 16x40 sounds good but you will find the clarity will be close to useless.
The rule of thumb is the magnification multiplied by 4 should not excede the larger figure.
Other consideration should be wether they are fully coated or semi coated lens.
This effects the amount of light lost while passing through the binoculars.
Fully coated being best.
Weight should also be considered and what you want them for and the price.
Don't pay more for a zoom function that will give you a poor image.
Bird watcher go for binoculars in the 8x40 range or telescopes.
General watchers go for the heavier 10x50.
I'm a seawatcher and i use 12x50 and the much larger tripod mounted 20x80 bins.
You will also see a figure giving your field of view marked on the binoculars.
My 12x50 gives me 5 degrees and my 20x80 gives me 3 degrees field of view.
For searching you need a large field of view, if you know where your object of interest is then a small field of view is fine.
This information is just general based on binoculers that i've used.
I have never tried either of the binoculars you are considering.
An Orger may well have tried them and can give you a personal opinion about them.
I hope this info is of some help.

Lidls currently have 10x50 binoculars by Bresser for £12.70. They are excellent value for money and good quality.
