Was at the PO in Thurso yesterday with some cards and parcels which needed to be weighed.

Had two identical cards for two sisters-in-law. First one on the scales was an ordinary second class stamp. Just to be certain we checked the other one and it was the next rate up. When I enquired how this could be I was told it would be the weight of the ink. Brain was not quite fully alert at this point, but when it came to checking the envelopes all had stamps on before they went in the box I noticed one address was three lines, the other six, so maybe, just maybe ink is heavy after all.

Just a warning to check postage weights and shapes of larger cards. Had a couple I had to pay excess postage on last year when they were delivered, so extra vigilant this year.

Used be a £1-00 charge plus the difference in postage. Timely warning Poppett, thanks
