Just read the following news story:
http://http://news.aol.co.uk/mother-flushed-baby-down-toilet/article/20081124123524773460392

I'm really not sure what to make of this! If the woman did not know she was pregnant, which I am aware can happen, surely she would have known something wasn't quite normal when she gave birth???

Interesting to note that the coroner dismissed the mothers account of not knowing she had given birth, which would lead us to presume ther would be charges pressed against the woman, though ther's no mention of that. But what would the charges be? Murder? Manslaughter? Accidental death causing of death?

I am a bit shocked by this story though.

she knew she was pregnant, she was lying to cover her belly, at 7.5lb the birth is certainly going to be painful (going by personal experience at 6lb7oz being bad enough) how the hek is 7.5lb going to fit down the loo to only leave a foot showing?
more to this than reported [evil]

i total have to agree. As far as my mind goes the woman knew exactly what she was doing and isnt telling the truth about something

It's this next quote that gets me...

'When she experienced pains in the early hours of December 28 last year, a week after her due date, she put it down to the diarrhoea from which she was suffering'.

I think if I were a week overdue and suffering pains I'd immediately assume the baby was coming, I don't believe that she could have given birth to a 7.5lb baby without noticing, childbirth isn't that easy!

She will have to live with this for the rest of days, no matter why or how it happened will never change that child's fate, poor thing :~(

I can't believe she didn't feel anything. Having a baby feels nothing like diarrhoea (exact opposite in my experience!). What about the umbilical cord and the placenta?!!
I could see in days gone by, when it was a disgrace to have an illegitimate child, that women may have done things out of desperation but nowadays?
What a sad story.
