I have found at National Archives of Scotland, a Will for the Major. It is not at SP. I then found a burial for the same man at Portsmouth. He is the husband of Margaret Liddell and most researchers have him KIA at Salamanca Spain. He was the son of William Innes and Janet Sinclair, twin of my 3 x great grandfather Peter. Then found the same Will at the English Archives. It does say" Granted to Margaret Innes previously Liddell /widow" 16 January 1811. In the register transcript for Portsmouth it is listed Major John Innes 94th Regiment died 27 August 1810 buried 29 August 1810 at Royal Garrison Church Portsmouth Hampshire. This is for the information of any researchers who like myself followed the Salamanca death.I will happily send a copy to anyone who may want it.
glosters.tripod.com has him listed having died from dysentry after returning from Cadiz Spain.
I hope this is of some help.

Cheers
