Why do I see the membership rise to over 4000 then suddenly drop again? Are some of them dodgy names or characters or previously banned people trying to rejoin?

There is occasionally a purge of unused accounts, although I understand that a PM is sent to forewarn the user(s) that this is happening prior to the purge. The post (http://forum.caithness.org/showthread.php?t=13357) regarding this can be found in the Specials forum.
