A video recording would have been better.
Grey seal Mums will only feed their own pups under normal circumstances.
Pups that go to the wrong mum in most cases will be grabbed and tossed like a rag doll, some times fatally

yes I was hoping that something gory didn't happen after Mum of pup b approached Pup a
They are wonderful photographs Seabird. If you want a buddy with a video camera and gear, PM me. I'm normally available for filming at short notice and odd hours. I have some wonderful footage of the seals at Scotland's Haven but none of them have been in with young pups when I have been down. :(

There was some pretty emotive shots on "Autumnwatch" on BBC TV a couple of weeks ago when one mum decided to adopt other mum's pups much to the detriment of the pups, and herself, it has to be said! Pretty bizarre behaviour. :confused
