OH just had a call to his mobile ( got from business directory!) from a Mr West who appears to be promoting a crime prevention campaign. Basically he was after money and was NOT impressed when Geo asked him outright if that was the object of his call  Needless to say that was where the conversation ended and of course the "caller had withheld his number" Now we may be over cautious, but have any other Orgers had similar calls? I will be contacting Thurso police station to see if he is known to them ;)

Just spoke to Police - they know nothing about Mr West - their response is DO NOT give out any details or information , - be wary. Good advice if you ask me ( and even if you don't  - it's still good advice !!)

I remember this scam before and funnily enough he was a Mr West.
In my last place of work i recieved a call about crime provention and the guy went on waffling about what he could do etc. he stated that he worked alongside "Highland Police"!.
That is when I got suspicous and asked him for his office number so I could ring him back as I was busy, at that he hung up!!!!!.
better safe than sorry I say.

It always seems to be at this time of the year that the majority of scams come into play. Shows yu what kind of world we live in.

Its not a scam as such. He's just cold-calling to try to get an appointment to sell you an alarm system at a vastly over-inflated price.

Had a similar call from 'The Crime Prevention Office' - who informed me that their new publication for the Highlands was going out as planned and would I kindly send honour what I had agreed to buy in advertising space during our last conversation 'x' amount of months ago.

Rather oddly , the young lady who phoned me up had a broad Mancunian accent (obviously related to Percy;)) and wasn't smart enough to withold her number - a Manchester one. As soon as I queried the time and date of the original conversation (which she said she had kept a record of)...click...brrrrrrrrr

About two months later guess who phoned me up again? Same pitch. She'd obviously not realised she was talking to the same guy as last time. The same result when I challenged the date of our original conversation...click...brrrrr.

So I phoned them back straight away...that was a fun conversation. I really enjoyed that. I don't think they'll call again.

AnneOctober, do you realise that if you changed the letters around on your 'location' - you'd live with a Hamster in Sheblet?
