Here's a squirrel taken from the patio door while on holiday at Centre Parcs earlier in the year (we also had visits from Ducks, birds & mice!!)

Well done on that Deemac! My kids were thrilled with the wildlife that visited our "hut" (sorry feel like I am in Stalag 15 when I go there). We saw squirrels, pheasants, moorhens and more!

I love this thread - I think squirrels are so cute! :) Nice to see a pic of a red one, dan67. It's a shame that they're far less common in the UK, these days. We saw plenty when we lived in Germany. As far as I know, that was the only variety there.

Kodiak, your pic of a black squirrel is priceless! I just love his expression and stance. He looks like a wee thief who's been caught red handed! About ten years ago, I was surprised to see black squirrels in the trees surrounding my in-laws' house in Massachusetts, for the first time. Apparently, they had become regular visitors, but prior to that, it had only been grey squirrels. I have just learned through a Wikipedia article that several species of squirrels have melanistic phases, so that would account for the darker colour. They must have been eastern grey squirrels in such a phase.

Some great photos of the squirrels,I can just remember as a kid the red squirrels before the greys drove them out.
I never knew there was a black squirrel though, is that in the UK?
Best not show you my photo of a squirrel in my album.:confused:eek:

Now, now, Wifie - as you should know, it's called a "chalet" (NOT a "Hut"!!), we must keep our standards up after all.*

*All of the above donates humour!;)

I be Beelzebub, look into my red eye, not around the eye but into my eye!
