Sorry, but I got this far and burst out laughing:

"Most locals choose comfort over fashion. (http://www.theherald.co.uk/display.var.2463368.0.0.php?utag=54644)"

I prefer warmth and comfort over fashion - think most folk living in our latitude and coastal situation think about the warmth of garments, other than on a fairly warm day when we can cast a cloot and bare a little flesh if we dare.

Not worried how anyone views my attire - as long as I am warm and comfortable.

Know many of my guests are quite surprised at my layers when getting ready to walk the dogs - after a few days like have had recently they soon start to wrap up to avoid the wind and rain, how their tune changes - gone are the dainty little pumps or stilettoes, skimpy skirts and tops, on go the fleece tops, jackets, waterproof trousers and boots.

I don't think they are that far behind in Thurso village. Why, Only last year I saw a group of youths there wearing Bay City Rollers trousers.

I'm sorry but I don't think a quick jaunt around the county, a slap up meal and a drink with a sanctimonious lefty gives any qualification to write an informed article on Caithness and her people.

Wow Rheghead,
I thought it was you the writer was sitting in Forss House with debating nuclear, green, and other weighty issues.
