Just to get an idea who's who and what you do for a job.
What do you do Paris?
I started out in Accountancy, but it was too sedentary for my liking, so I joined the New Zealand Post Office (as it was then) and qualified as a Telephone Technician.
During the downsizing process, I took voluntary redundancy, and began an apprenticeship as a carpenter, at the age of 30. I gained my Trade Certificate and worked in that trade for 20 years... the last 9 of them whilst being a full time single parent.
Six months ago I changed tack slightly and I became a joiner, specialising in stair construction.
Of course, I still do a bit of carpentry work for friends and family, in my spare time and my latest project requires me to build a chair for Santa :)
Glorified book-keeper. Soon to be looking for another job.
Any chance of a new job?
Another senior citizen (apprentice? - hmm. not sure about that, think I'm quite good at being retired :o) ). Besotted granny. Used to be secretary, PA, Office Manager, finished up in IT.
What do you do Paris?
Well I'm an at home nanny to a 5 yr old who lives with us( hubby and i ) Ive worked in nursing , a motorbike dealers, r.s.p.c.a , made Xmas cracker's for Harrods, strawberry picker when the kids were small in the Kent country side, also did a bit of sheep farming when we lived in lybster and loved every minute of it .
I.T. - Internety stuff at the minute.
at the moment a full time mum but planing to go back to part time work *G*

Started off working with hunters and eventers at Newstead Abbey for a few years then moved onto Owen Brenans race yard in Newark ( great fun), then knackered my back so worked in the Gold shop in Nottingham then a bartacker in a factory, then an overlocker in another factory.
Then I got married, had twins, helped hubby run a construction business, moved up here and am now starting a psychology course.
Where that leads? Who knows, but I'm interested in child psychology, needs to be an understanding employer though as I have narcolepsy and am likely to fall asleep on the job. [lol]
Poorly paid farmer and sometimes domestic engineer :D
I am currently an optical assistant with Boots. It is pretty good

And another thing, there's not a lot of tourism so BnB is a bit depressed.
Stroma is a lovely little island and gets quite alot of tourists may i add....?

Legal druggie working part-time in a pharmacy married to a Dr handy for a perscription...lol... loads o kids no spare time.... not enough sleep....lovin every minute .
Part-time senior data analyst and software developer for a mail order company.
Pyrotechnician for my own firework display business.
Also design and make wood/peat burning stoves and chunky pine beds.
I'm a sales assistant but used to work for an event yard and teaching children to ride. Hubby a driving instructor/artist
and we are both experts in eating and sleeping and scooping horse poop!
Im a builder but dinna bother, Im up till the eyeballs in it.
Iam a experenced machine operater .

Im a literary editor (hurrah) and business development officer (boo) trainee chanteuse (hurrah classes started back) mom cook entertainer and chauffeur ( sigh!!!!)

Went way back in time and found my former handle. Thought I would update with my new handle. The last time I was in Caithness (Thurso Nav Com Station) I was an Electronics Engineer. That was in 1980. Now I am a retired electronics engineer and probably forgot most of what I knew way back then. I enjoyed touring Great Britain (England & Scotland) with my wife and two youngest daughters who were then in their early teens. Now they are in their 30s with their own children. This 81 year old (WWII Vet) enjoys the contacts he makes in this forum and hopes it will help him to think young. Thanks and the best of wishes to all of you.

Well i will be looking for employment shortly once we move to Milton.
I am currently a machinist at a Glass processing company. Before that i owned my own Landscaping business for 5 years. Previous to that i was a retail manager for Countrywide Farmers and store manager/buyer for Sydenhams the local builders merchant.
I really don't mind what i do next providing it pays the morgage and bills. I would love to get back into the building/farmering supply chain (plumbase, geddes etc).
We are both giving up good jobs to move up to where the air is clean, people are friendly and the great outdoors is empty.
Domestic Engineer, Nanny, Bank Manager etc, (aka Mum to 3 boys well 4 if you count the hubby). As of tomorrow I add full time student to my repertoire.
In a previous life I was a Shelf Stacker, Theatre Nursing Auxiliary, Care Assistant, ADSL analyst and Management Support Assistant.

Started as a Fitter/Turner apprentice at Vulcan and when I finished my 4 year stint I moved winhin the Engineering Dept. to work on an IT project. Left at the natural end of the project and was set to go to Robert Gordon's in Aberdeen to study ICT.
In the meantime I was asked by numerous people to help them out with their PC's and realised there was a hole locally for an IT consultant so decided to fill said hole instead.
That was over 12 years ago and I'm still both happy and very busy. Business has changed and diversified but that's part of the fun of it.

Law Clerk in a Real Estate/Estate Practice. Loads of fun.
I am a wife, Mother and Grandmother . In other words I am a domestic engineer (wife/Mother), who also is a taxi service and babysitter (Grandmother). Previously I worked for an airline . I loved what I did and I love what I do now !
B&B proprietor/cook/housekeeper, mum to 6 with all that entails (though two have flown the coop now)...hopeful poet and writer, sometime artist, and occasionally known to sing for my supper :).
In past life I have been a house renovator/cleaner/decorator, waitress, delivery person, and planetarium guide/lecturer, among other things.

In former life, was a radio/phone dispatcher for fire department in a city of 82 sq miles with 500,000 inhabitants. Have barely recovered from the stress.
Mother of three, even tho now adults, they still come to their owld mam when the going gets rough.

Spent from 16 years old progressing through the ranks as a Deck Officer in the Merchant Navy with Shell Tankers until serious illness in 1993 ended that adventure. Was a great life and I miss it still.
I'm in retail and also a domestic engineer lol nanny cook and whatever elese needs doing at the time.
Used to work in a bank also was a riding instructor in spare time!!!
then worked in call centres Has enough of that. Then my and my husband bought a pub here in the far north!

A senior engineer who started life working on engine’s bigger than my house!! I now work on a private yacht with some very fast speed boat and do a lot of diving in very warm sea temperatures.;)
The only very bad thing is I have to spend time away from my wife which is not good!!:~(

Before that in a mental hospital. All my 18 years working life been with people and their problems. Would like a change any ideas?:)

i work for M M Millers, got a nice desk upstairs in the office and i do all the purchasing for them amongst other stuff, I am also in charge of the yard. Plus other stuff:)
