starting knitting

have never really been a knitter (could do knit and purl and basic patterns) but my daughter's school has started a knitting class after school for p6 and p7's so volunteered to go along and help, we are both getting hooked. would love to know where to get some good basic patterns.
or any other ideas on what to do bar just little squares

Have a look online Lynne. Jusgt "google" basic knitting and you'll come up with some great sites. Free patterns available as well.
