I just love acers. Has anyone else got one?:confused

I used to have one in the garden of a previous house and I used to love the colour of it at this time of year.:Razz
The one you have looks a smasher Rhegs.

Yes that one is a beauty. I have one in a half barrel, just 2 yrs old but a bit wind beaten I fear.

Not everyone in Caithness can grow Japanese Acers, so congratulations to you.

But there are many European acers which provide great autumn colour, and are much hardier.

Acer Palmatum rubra, Acer Palmatum tricolor, are just two examples.

I have one and it looked amazing in the summer.
It's dropped all its leaves now and I've bought it into the greenhouse for the winter.
We live smack bang next to the sea and as long as it's kept in a sheltered position it seems to have done really well coping with the winds and salt laden air.

Your looks bloomin marvelous though and yes, I think they're an amazing plant to grow - even if they are a tad slow!
In fact I think I may add to my collection of 1 next year. :lol:

It looks good, most areas a little windy for them.
