Watched a programme last night on BBC 4 about a chap who constantly monitors the National grid output and brings on line and takes off line power stations as demand requires.
He tries to keep the cycles at 50 Hertz.
Problems occur at end of popular TV programmes when people put on the kettle etc causing surges in demand. Was there a popular TV show ending about time of flickering?

I have been doing some work up in my loft to create some storage space.
Last night and this morning the lights have been flickering and I wondered if I had disturbed a loose wire somewhere or was it the weather conditions.
It seems to have settled down now.
