Went for a walk on the beach this morning to find this fellow paddling around the shallows:

I don't think it's injured; it was moving round quite happily, but I'll try and nip back down later this afternoon and check it's resumed its journey. If it hasn't, what should I do? And does anyone know what kind of goose it is? It's about the size of a small swan.

From the pink bill it looks like a snow goose, but from the bill form would be more inclined to think it is some sort of juvenile swan.
Where's kas when we need her?

It is a first year Whooper Swan - they normally travel in family parties and stay together as such on the wintering grounds. Looks as though this one has become separated from the group, possibly because of the gales.
