...or to be politically correct, a woman for that matter lol.

No, seriously, how many women .orgers would be OK with this? *My friend* says that his wife objects somewhat to his rough embrace, so my second question is, what can this man do to soften his stubble (assuming that he doesn't want to shave it off)?

My OH has had 1 for years so no problem here.
I recommend a liquid detergent, keeps the hair soft and does clag the whiskers together!

Clean shaven is best or a proper beard, the in-betweens are the worst [lol]

Have had a beard for 30+ years now, a full RN regulation one to begin with, and no complaints from Mrs G, shaved that one off for charity the day I retired from the Reserves, went bare faced for a year, I got fed up shaving every day, so I have now had a smaller beard, and still no complaints from she who must be obeyed [lol]

I think beards are fine so long as they are neat and not too long - better than stubble rash any day!

Why cultivate something on your face which grows with gay abandon everywhere else

I love beards! Dave has a goatee, and it suits him. With out it he looks like a bowling ball head [lol], as for kissing, never been an issue since it has grown to a good length, but was a tad scratchy for the first few days.

My OH had a goatee for about 4 years, he has only recently shaved it off and I wasnt a massive fan of it to begin with but I grew to love it. I do miss it now, I liked stroking it hehe
Kissing was fine, just got used to it.

I grew one about 10 yrs before I left the RN and yes it was due to some laziness. But mainly I grew it because I was getting fed up with being woke in the middle of the night to fix a fault and by the time scran (breakfast) was due, I would get picked up for not having a shave!!

When I left the RN , I grew a goatie, because for the first time - I could and since then it has been the same. Mainly I grow the full set back in Winter and back to the goatie in summer. Well its the same as someone putting a jumper on when they are cold. !! ....................... isnt it :confused

I could never bring myself to kiss a man with a beard. I find them a bit creepy and wonder what's underneath. A bit of stubble is ok but prefer clean shaven faces.

i prefer the clean shaven, i have sensitive skin, so if my OH ever did have one there would be no kisses!!

My husband had a beard for years. I didn't like it plus it was very aging, he looks about 10 years younger when clean shaven.

I dont like stubble, thats quite painful.

Tis funny cos i asked my gay friend what he thought about it, and apparantly it doesnt bother him as much if they have a bit of stubble to....

When I were a mere sprog of a lad in the RN in the late 70's, we had a beard growing competition whilst we were shadowing the Russians on excercise off the Kola Inlet up in't th'Arctic Circle, like.

As the ex-Mob boys on here will know, you normally had to request to grow a beard. This was so geniune wannabe beardies could be picked out from the rest of the Ships' Company who were just too lazy to shave.....

So, carte blanche for everyone not to shave. The results after 4-5 weeks were ranging from the sublime to the hilarious.

My own feeble attempt was probably the worst of all. From my sideburns down to my chin was a fine mass of close black hair. Unfortunately it was all below my jawline with hardly a hair on my face, cheeks or below my nose. I was mocked remorslessly by all and sundry.

The worst was the Engineering Officer (my boss) Cdr Netherclift. Every time I went into the Machinery Control Room he would say:

"Very good of you to join us Stoker N, now would you please remove your balaclava, it's not really cold in here".
Howls of laughter generally followed this and other sundry balaclava-based witticisms......

Scarred fer life, I were.

But I thought a knight was *supposed* to wear a chain mail balaclava under his suit of armour, Sir Northener?!? ;)

I love my OH in a beard, however he prefers a goatee, which I can't stand the look of (on him, that is! Other's goatee's are fine, just not on my hubby!) so we've agreed to keep clean-shaven.

Oh, and never, EVER a moustache on my OH!!! He looks like a 1980's porn star...(can I say porn on the Org?)

I Have a full beard, and yes, I'm too idle to shave, but after a life in uniform, I am enjoying the freedom to please myself.

I like having a full beard, it is pretty natural in case anyone wasn't aware lol.
In all seriousness, i prefer having a beard to being clean shaven, just find it better.

Everyone has their likes and dislikes though.

Mr Sassy had a beard when we met and he had it for several years after we married. In fact I had never seen him without a beard until one evening he decided to shave it off. He looked so different, I couldn't help staring, I spent the rest of the evening trying to get used to his new look. The next morning when I opened my eyes, in those fuzzy headed moments of awakening, I looked over and nearly had a heart attack, I thought I was in bed with his brother EEEK!

I do prefer him with a goatee, it suits him.

When I first met my husband, he had a full beard. Shortly after we started dating, I managed to persuade him to shave it off. I tactfully (!) told him that it made him look a bit like Rasputin, and that I was sure he'd look much more handsome if he shaved it off! So he did - and I was right!! :D

He kept his moustache, though, but I was OK with that. He didn't get rid of it till about 3 years later, when he accidentally shaved part of it off, lol. He's been clean shaven ever since! :)

All I can say is I don't bother shaving my head either.
I have two good reasons for having a beard. The first is that my Ex doesn't like them. The other is that I had bosses who couldn't do anything about it other than constantly twittering and muttering.
The usual twittering was that the top boss didn't like them. Eventually the top boss appeared one day after a holiday with a splendid full set.
The response was wonderful to see. Those who had done the most muttering suddenly found they had the urge to grow beards.
Now I wonder what changed their minds?

Interesting respones, but the second part of my question was what a bearded (OK, stubbly) man can do to soften the stubble and become more kissable (;->) ....?

I reckon if women are expected to shave/wax etc hair then cannot see why men can't either. I cannot "bear" a hairy chest, full beards or goatees (what is the point of a goatee?).

Any goat will tell you that goatees' are vital to the survival of all goats. Without goatees being born there will be no more goats.

And then you'll be really, really sad, won't you.

And keep bears out of it as well.

Touche! Now Golach, you should know that a goatee is a small goat.

It must be, because the 'small beard' they are alluding to is called a 'van Dyke' by the RN and if my memory serves me correctly, only two members of any Ships company can request to grow one.

I've never kissed anyone with a beard , nor am I likely to start now at this stage of my life.

I suppose though there are practices which might equate to a similar sensation and they are not too unbearable in many a mans book.

Interesting respones, but the second part of my question was what a bearded (OK, stubbly) man can do to soften the stubble and become more kissable (;->) ....?Stubble is almost never soft, it’s only when a beard has got past that stage that it goes soft. Once it is at that stage it goes softer. At that stage soap and water keeps it soft, much like the hair on people’s head. Without hair spray or gel, that is.

If you are serious about this...you COULD get your beard waxed off! Painful I know, but the regrowth would grow in much more softly than shaved stubble.

Doubt you will find it worth the trouble tho...most menfolks couldn't hack the pain factor...
