I've got rows of salad leaves and other plants that I have been unable to use. They are going funny in the colder weather. Is it best to leave them like a 'green manure' or dig them out and stick in the compost bin?

I'd go for green manure, it will save having to weed the bed too

Personally, I'd pull them up and add them to the compost bin. They will decompose quicker combined with other materials in a compost heap. Left as they are, you'll probably be faced in spring with some slime and some thick, un-decomposed stems. So you'll have to pull them up then and put them on the compost.
