HIE can't help, already tried them, who are SAAS? must have a mooch round the net for them.
the course is Ports & Logistics, a 2year thing. Been told i can do it distance learning if i can raise the cash.

try going to citizens advice ...... they would probably know where to look for grants.

Have you tried asking your employer if they would help fund the course?

Tugmistress,

SAAS can help you if it is a full-time course, they can even help with fees for part-time and you get a small grant towards course expenses. Though this has to be via a Scottish institution.

I'm studying full time for a degree and as this is the second time I have to fund it myself. There is a baseline for course fees which I'm sure is around £1200 but if it is any more then SAAS make up the difference so as my course for one year is £1700 they have paid around £500 of it. Of course if this is the first time you have taken on any higher education then you would get the full fee paid to you.

I've also been lucky enough to get an ILA. There are two different grants from them. One for £200 and one for £500. You should be entitled to the £500 as it is a foundation degree. The £200 grant covers people that are doing perhaps a night class or or other courses. The £500 is for degree study. Just got to their website and apply online, they ask a few questions to determine which grant you are suitable for. Then send out a pack.

Oh and just to add...I have always found SAAS to be very very helpful, give them a phone (number on website) and they will be able to advise you on what you are entitled to.
