A young student was hitch hiking into Belfast. It was a cold wet night with a gale blowing and he was glad when a car slowly stopped and he jumped in. A curve in the road appeared up ahead and the car was showing no sign of turning and when he went to speak to the driver, found he was in the car alone.
Frightened out of his wits he sat clenching the seat when suddenly a hand shot through the window and turned the wheel in the nick of time.....at this point he started praying out loud but, the car kept slowly moving of its own accord. Every now and then the hand would appear silently and turn the wheel, usually to divert what could be an accident. Soon the lights of a pub appeared up ahead and gathering every bit of courage jumped from the moving car and into the pub where he started to tell his tale of the ghostly moving car with no driver and the phatom hand that only appeared when a distaster was near.
Paddy and Mick were soaked to the skin and decided to call into the pub for a pint. Looking round they saw the student who sat telling his tale to the crowd that had gathered around him.
Paddy turned to Mick and asked, 'Is that, that .eckin idiot that got into the car when we were pushing it!!!!'
