Just off the Camster road, on the track to Rowens and Kensary, there is a little corrugated iron building. It must be old - it looks the same as it did 40 years ago.
I have often wondered about its history. Was it a school, a religious meeting place or just a wee house.
Are there any local history experts out there who know the story of this building?

My grandparents used to speak of visiting a couple there. It was a but and ben in which Jimmy and Liz Sinclair lived. He may have been the shepherd on the Rowans. I don't think it was ever a school but there are stone remains of a school at Achlibster, the croft next to the Rowans. The Rowans hasn't been occupied since the 1940s as far as I know.

Many thanks KitKat, that's interesting.
It would make sense for the tin house to be associated with the Rowens, but built nearer the main road so as not to be so isolated.
