Seagull Dai lemma

Does anyone know of a way to catch a young seagull without harming it or me.?
It has had some string rapped around its legs for about a week now.

I think your best bet is to contact the SSPCA or whatever the local version is and ask their advice, failing that a helpful vet might be a good port of call for your dilemma.

Do you have a large shrimp net or similar that you can reach it with?
Drop the net over the bird and then sweep to 1 side,this should ensure the bird is caught safely.
Wrap you hand with a soft towel and get it over the bird's head and
whilst holding it firmly but gently try and snip the offending string from around the legs

We used to catch homing pigeons by placing a noose of string flat on the ground, placed some food in it, waited until the bird walked into the sling then quickly tightened the noose. Safe and vey effective. It is worth a try

Seagull Dai-lema update. I still have not caught it and the trap below was not up to scratch:( Did catch a starling though.:Razz Time for a change of tackle..

10 out of 10 for effort Kevin, very industrious and caring of you! :D

I've caught seagulls in the past and used either a strong rubber band or cable tie to keep their beak shut, keep your eye on the beak as they are like lightning and will go for your eyes.
