Just wondering if anyone on here has been "urban exploring" ?
I am fascinated by what is left in buildings when they close down, it really is amazing.
I have attached a pic from someones "exploration" but I wont say where it is!!! You'll just have to guess, Hint* Its in the Highlands.

The Tivoli Theatre, Aberdeen .
I passed this building many times and was fascinated by it I am glad someone did this one. And whats more they asked permision and they got it! Its stuck in a timewarp, but they are hoping to restore it.

That was me and my friend for the Tivoli one! :) I usually ask permission at places as it makes it all more relaxed and you get way better photos.

EDIT: And Cr-ai-g Duna1n hospital. Can't say how we got in here, but lets just say it wasn't unofficial! :)

what a spectacular looking theatre.
I hope it's friends manage to save it. It's deserving of lottery money,
including the tenner I won last night.

Breaking and entering with a camera!!! lol.
Some get permission first as previously posted on here, but for some its the thrill of not getting caught thats the main thing! :)

Hope the breaking and entering thing was a joke :) I for one have never "broken and entered" in my whole life.

Here's some more photos of mine,

http://www.flickr.com/photos/scotlands-forgotten-places/

and let's just say about 75% of the abandoned places on there were accessed by walking in through a door. Some require getting under a fence perhaps, others were done with permission. A lot of the fun is doing it through finding your own way rather than taking a crow-bar to a window. That would make you a ned!

I am absolutely mesmerised by these photos. I love old abandoned buildings and I'm excited at the prospect of being able to explore them. But who do you ask? Do you just go in? How does this "Urban exploring" work? :)

Have never been myself, but I too am fascinated by what is left behind when buildings close. At the craig dunain one there was x-rays etc all left lying around!!.
I think for some of the places permision is asked for and quite alot speak to the security guys to try and get in. As long as theres no damage done I think its quite normal to get permission. For some "explorers" the thrill is gaining entry but they dont destroy anything they just document what they find, can be a bit dangerous though!

Thanks for the comment about the photos! :) There's lots more on my flickr site that I haven't made public YET! ;)

You can ask the site owner if you know who they are, workmen or security. Quite often the answer is no though.

So as has been mentioned, any non-official entry is TOTALLY non-damaging and when you leave, there SHOULD be no trace you've ever been and nothing different about the building. That's how I've always done it and continue to do it.
