it is certainly looking like a few days of freezing temps with a possible quick dumping of snow (if anything falls out of the sky ) after the 27th

The area of cold air at -10c is above us at about 8,000ft which roughly equates to a ground temp of 0c. The air looses all it's humidity at this temp which is one of the factors of snow being able to be produced by any precipitation around.
This are of cold air is set to stay around us for a couple of days at the moment, though it could and will probably change, but maybe something for the kids to look forward too, i'll keep you informed :)

A few photos from Chirstmas day last year oin Caithness shows it is possible
http://www.caithness.org/christmas2004/photogallery/thumbs.htm?0?16

In 2003 there was snow in the county on 23 December as shown by the photos of Lybster here http://www.caithness.org/fpb/december2003/photogallery/thumbs.htm?0?7

But it was the 30th of December 2003 untill we saw the real snow as in the photos here http://www.caithness.org/fpb/december2003/photogallery/thumbs.htm?0?8

Although still cold at thend of 2004 the crowds in Wick put on their warm clothes and were out in force in Market Square http://www.caithness.org/christmas2004/photogallery/thumbs.htm?0?18
hopefully the weather will be kind again for another New Year Party in Wick

Thanks Bill :)
I knew there were piccies somewhere :)
It was wonderful to wake up christmas morning last year and see the place white over (even though it didn't last long here :( )
it would be lovely if the weather did 'speed up' and give us a white christmas again.
