What are you looking to do? Patent it? Find an investor? A manufacturer? A promoter?

James Dyson's website (http://www.dyson.co.uk/invent/default.asp?sinavtype=menu) has interesting advice on patenting.

From what I know of successful and less-than-successful inventors, you'd be extremely lucky to find a single company to get this up and running for you.

It's more likely that you're going to have to battle through every stage on your own and become your own super-promoter. I wish you the very best of luck. Don't forget to patent it before you tell anyone about it.

This website (http://www.planet-science.com/library/index.html?page=/library/invent.html) looks to have some useful links.

You may find the webpage of the Institute of Patentees and Inventors (http://www.invent.org.uk) useful.

I suppose it all depends on the product your wanting to make as to how you should go about producing and marketing or getting investors, etc.

I would have thought that if it's an original idea then patenting it would seem like a great start and will give you some protection. You don't want to go showing the idea around if someone just decides to steal it and cut you out.

There used to be an award every year for new inventions in Scotland, I think it's called The John Logie Baird awards. You used to be able to get an entry form from CASE, you don't have to tell them what it's for and you send the form off yourself. Hope this is of some use.
