Was wandering along the beach a few days back and thought the colours and formations were so beautiful

Does any one have any information on the geology, the rocks seemed to be some form of sedimentary rock and would think laid down under the sea looking at the horizontal layers.

Those are great Lizz.
I can see my mother in law in picture 1. Can anybody else see the face above the pebble?

Here's some rock & pebbles taken tonight (07/08/2008) at Dunnet beach. The "works" here - tripod, HD grad on mount, spirit level, remote trigger!! (all 10-20mm sigma) C&C most welcome.

Yes, I spotted the face right away, before I read your post, Kevin. Looks like somebody from The Simpsons cartoon, lol!

Deemac, your photos are absolutely stunning! They almost look like they're in 3-D, and I nearly feel as if I'm right there on the beach! Those are calendar worthy photos, in my opinion! :)

Deemac,
My preferred end of Dunnet beach, some great photographs, and beautiful lighting.

It's just as well I'm over on the other side of the Big Pond then, Kevin! :o

On taking another look at LIZZ'S photos, I now see a face in the fourth pic, turned in the opposite direction to the first one. Interesting photos indeed, LIZZ!
