Lavender, bitter tasting, can be put on a spoonful of sugar to ease colic or digestion problems ( small amount only ). Smeared onto the skin, helps keep the insects from biting you.
Salt of plumbum ( lead ) for sever poo problems, but , but must be careful cause o poising, needle crystals only...... WOman wanting to abort children was once known to take certain leads.... for head lice, old folks used to use paraffin and then wrap the head in a towel or cap of some kind and next morning repeat.... dunno if my info accurate, but works so i beleive but that me ;)

Babies who have snuffles and blocked noses benefit from having a bit of butter rubbed into either side of the nose. If you feel a cold sore coming on dab it with a spot of pure perfume. Warm olive oil on a bit of cotton wool for earache. My Granny swore by these.

As per usual, a serious 'Swoosh' over the heads of most responders. :D

In response though, my dear ol' Mum swore by the 'drinking a bottle of gin in a warm bath' theory. Worked a treat as far as I can tell. ;)
