Had a look at the link...seems to me the terrorists have suceeded in doing what they set out to do........create terror.
Nations are becoming paranoid with fear and governments run by neurotics............................

Seems that the Government has nearly achieved what they set out to do using the exagerated threat of terrorist attack as the gateway to as near as damn possible, total control of the population.

You may well be right, if not, you're not far off it.

One hundred years ago there were similar arguments against such invasive technology as the radio. Indeed, there was a it hoo-hah over Dr. Crippen's being apprehended following a radio transmission.

What I find is that the more likely an individual is to make a blithe remark against ID cards or information recording the more likely they are to call for widespread benefits. They often describe themselves as social libertarian which, like all those Gaelic names for east Caithness, is more makie-uppie.

That said, it's possible to feel disquiet over this and not think we're almost there with Syria and North Korea and China.
