i am jut embarking on my self build and seeing as i am to be the main contractor i must be suitably NHBC registered or the equivalent.

The equivalent being construction supervision. I am going for this option as it is the easiest for me, unfortunately it is a bit costly though.

The company are Torrance partnership based in Invergordon, and they do the initial land valuation, the stage valuations for the lender and also supervise all stages of construction so you meet the guarantees. This also give the property a ten year guarantee.

The reason i post is that Torrance-Partnership have told me if anyone else up my way (Sutherland/Caithness) wishes to also use them for the same matter it would bring both our costs down.

Hence my post....is anyone else out there in the same position? Do you need self build finance but are the main contractor of your build?

Send me a PM if you wish to use this company. I have not gone with them for definate, but if it helps get the costs down then its worth it!
