Anyone else thinking that the roads in and around wick are in a shocking state ?
pots holes ,raised man hole covers, patches all over the place. The council went around mid May time and marked a lot of areas with paint, then worked on the man hole covers raising them about half inch above road surface. Now the markings they put down are slowly getting worn away(wasted time ) and will no doubt have to be down again before work commences ( if it ever happens ), the bit that was patched near to Lidls is back to what it was a few months ago.

Not just round Wick Solus - roads most places I have been lately are in a shocking state. Bad enough coming across a huge pothole driving a car - feel sorry for anyone on anything smaller! Like you say too the repairs are worthless - they just seem to cause more work for themselves whilst road users have to just get on with it.

I don't know about Caithness but here in Hampshire and other counties the councils have cut back on road repairs. The reason they spend less filling in potholes etc. is so it forces drivers to slow down, also they pay out less on insurance claimsthan it cost's to fix roads.
