can anyone tell me how to go about getting a house swap, we are desperate to move to a bigger hose, because at the moment there is 5 of us in 2 bedroom house with baby due in december, we want to stay in the springpark area of thurso, where unfortunaty 3 and 4 bedroom houses are in real short supply, but we know there is afew out there with single people in them, just wondering if there is correct channels to go through, or is it just a case of approaching the person, oh by the way anyon interested in swapping let me know.

Assuming you are a council or housing association tenant there is a housing transfer list you should complete the form for.

The council have a list of exchange tenancies in the town house on the notice board.

If you are on the transfer list and then find someone who is willing to exchange you both contact the council and/or housing association who will check you both out that the homes are suitable for both your needs and also that no arrears of rent or council tax is outstanding. The council should then agree the swap on a mutually convenient day.

Give housing and property services in Thurso a call on 805505 whether you are a council tenant or not and they will be able to help you.
