I was hoping it was another option but it looks like it will still be the one flight a day, operated by Loganair, between Wick and Edinburgh.

where are they flying to?

I had a look at their website and it seems that Wick will have flights to Belfast, Birmingham, Manchester and Southampton but there is a connection in Edinburgh.

£80 return to edinburgh/manchester. I wonder will they use the air discount scheme?

Edit - oops, then there's the £75 taxes and charges on top of that....

flybe will accept ADS

I use ADS regularly and have to say it's really a bit of a joke.

40% off air travel?

My latest booking to Aberdeen return was £49. The ADS discount was £19.60, therefore the flight cost £29.40.

Then I had to pay £72.50 in taxes and charges, total £101.90.

If the government really want to subsidise flights from remote areas, how about subsidising the airport charges and cutting the taxes?

I've actually been able to find a really good deal with BA from Wick to Gatwick in January. It works out a little over £150 each return, the only problem is that the days just don't work out right. We fly from Gatwick on a Sunday but BA could only do the Friday and coming back we'd have the same problem. It's a shame cos it's a fantastic deal but it means an extra 3 days on our trip and 3 days worth of airport hotel rooms so it don't really work out cheaper.
Looks as though we'll either have to drive or fly from Inverness and pay the car parking fee.
The other problem we have is that we're allowed a luggage allowance of 30kg each to our destination from Gatwick, but the cheapy flights from up here only allow about 21kg checked in luggage. Aggghhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Sorry, absolutely nowt to do with Flybe!

I got excited for a miniute when I thought we could escape on holidays without a ball ache of a drive either side.
I just checked out a flight with FLYBEE to Birmingham at the end of November.
It works out a Loganair flight to Edinburgh and then on to Brum. over 5-1/2 hours and still not cheap.

I tried an example booking for 3 adults and 1 child to Southampton return. Total cost £2819.72. Yeah alright, I think I'll go ahead and book. If I was a millionaire I wouldn't pay these prices.
Are these really cheap fares? And that's economy plus.

How much is it on the bus? I used to travel on the bus a lot but it is absolute murder now , as Im a smoker & it takes forever to get anywhere from Caithness. The train is a no no no ( I said it first) but I think £ 200 sheets is absolutely ridiculous

Booked a return fly be flight from Inverness to Gatwick yesterday. Flights were £9.19 for each leg - bargain --- BUT --- I had to pay £7.99 each way for the pleasure of taking a case, then there was £8.99 insurance, plus £1.99 to pay by debit card (£5.00 if I paid by credit card - how else can you pay when you book over the internet - cash???), then of course there is the taxes about £20 going south and £24 to fly north. Grand total of the flights originally costing £18.38 was just over £91.00. I know it is cheaper and more convenient than driving, but I wish these travel companies would add everything into the fare, and not sell tickets on the basis of these super duper low prices. They should be honest and up front and the £9.19 tickets should have been sold at £38/£42 (fare, luggage and tax) - talk about misinforming customers!!! The tax has to be paid it is NOT an optional extra.

Even the local Eastern Airways flight is advertised at £99 return Wick to Aberdeen. You get the ADS discount then they slap on the taxes so the fare you pay is nearly £130 - way over the anticipated £99.

You could try Megabus, although don't go from Wick, but Inverness (I think it's free if you've got the 60+ concessionary card - but only the within Scotland leg)

We used fjybe in late May. Four flew to Brest and back for about four hundred and twenty quid.

I've explored the possibility of flying (2) up to Inverness in September for our weeks holiday. Cost: A couple of hundred. Adding car hire pushes it up beyond consideration really. I now have a different approach to runways - I'm too old to die young now too, so I'm more sanguine and relaxed about the aviation experience. Which, in the case of Flybe.com was excellent...everything went very smoothly indeed.

Because the airport charges are just made up by the airline. You can tell this because if you book a flight on the same route, with two different airlines, the taxes are calculated differently. It's just a marketing rouse which British Airways is responsible for, as they started doing it years ago.
