Today, July 1st, a ship has been close in to Dunnet Head. Does anyone know what it is??
Thank you.

I think it is laying cables to Orkney for BT. There is a sign up at the car park in Dunnet sands.
But.... I may be wrong.

The Ship is called CS Sovereign and will be around for about a week ish. Laying cables as said before from Dunnet bay to Orkney. Hoping to get a good pic of her if the weather improves!

laughed at this. If I don't know the real answer I could make it up!!!

hows about 'its a play ship for Orgers where we can go have some fun'.
I want my bit to have a private cinema with a private advance screening of Saturday nights final episode of Doctor Who where i will be served some toffee apples and not have heartburn.

(we wondered what the ship was yesterday, how dare it not be on AIS website)

Aye! it would be nice to get someone on the mainland here sharing AIS data, Mick (who covers the Pentland Firth alone) is on Graemsay and has a few 'dead spots' because of the lay of Hoy etc.
